~THE VILLAGE~

Nestled in the North-west region of the Nature Isle is a village that is well suited for the experience of community. It is flanked on three sides by small mountain ranges and on the west the calm waters of the Caribbean Sea. The river enters the village at its top, veering to the left as it makes its way down.

“This blog came about as a result of the events of August 27th, 2015 and September 18th, 2017 when the terrain and landscape of the Nature Isle was changed by two natural disasters. Tropical storm Erika and cat 5 hurricane Maria caused us to wonder if life in Dominica would ever be as we remembered. The physical appearance of our island looked so different. Our cities, villages and communities were nothing like the places where we grew up. All of a sudden our history and lifestyle we thought was preserved for coming generations, seemed in danger of being forever gone. This is an effort to relive, rehearse and remember what life was like during the golden age of being a Native Colihian.”
